FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who will I work for?

You will be self employed as an Independent Contractor of Hickman Virtual Solutions servicing clients on the Arise Platform.  Many of the clients are well-known Fortune 500 companies in the cruise, roadside assistance, cable, telecommunication and retail industries. 

Where and how do I get trained?

You will go through a virtual, instructor-led certification process to prepare you to service clients and it is all done from the comfort of your own home. 

How many hours will I work and how much will I earn?

For most clients, there is a minimum requirement of 15 hours per week, which may include hours on Saturday or Sunday. 


As an Independent Contract servicing on the Arise Platform you can earn between $9 and $16 per hour or $540 to $960 per month for the minimum requirement of 15 hours per week.  You can earn more if you choose to work more, you have the choice.  Additional performance incentives and perks are paid with some clients.  You are compensated bi-monthly via direct deposit.

How long is Certification and is it paid?

Certification duration is dependent upon the client and can vary from two weeks to 30 days.  Some may be shorter or longer, again this is dependent upon the client.  You are not compensated for the time spent in certification.  As an Independent Contractor you are responsible to learn the specialized skills needed to provide the appropriate support to the client you select.  There are some clients that offer "earn as you learn" during a portion of the certification process.  

Am I charged any fees?

You are also responsible for the Arise service fee of $19.75 which is charged per service period.   The service fee is for the infrastructure that Arise provides, including the Arise 24-Hour Client Technical Support Help Desk and StarMatic® scheduling system.  


In addition, our service fee is $40 dollars per service period.  Our low service fees enables us to provide you support during all phases of the certification process, during the course of our ongoing relationship, continuing education, accounting, revenue disbursement services and offers you the opportunity to service clients without having to incorporate.


No fees will be charged until the first service period after you begin servicing your first client on the Arise platform.

Do I have to pay taxes?

As an Independent Contractor, you are responsible for your own taxes.  You will receive a 1099 tax form at the end of the year if you earn $600 or more.  You are responsible for paying applicable Federal, State and Local taxes.


As an Independent Contractor you are not employed by Hickman Virtual Solutions or Arise.  You are not eligible for unemployment, overtime or benefits and you are responsible for your own retirement savings.


Many of your expenses MAY be tax deductible.  Please consult with your accountant or tax professional.

Can I use my laptop to service clients?

In order to use the Arise Platform, the System and Equipment Policy, detailed on the downloadable PDF, must be met.  This Equipment Policy details computer, headset, phone, Internet and equipment that is compatible with the Arise Platform.  Certain client programs may have additional requirements.  Prior to selecting a client, you will have access to the Opportunity Announcement which details any additional requirements above and beyond the ones listed in the Equipment Policy.   Please review the System and Equipment Policy carefully before selecting a client.  

Can I use my cell phone to take calls?

Cell phones CANNOT be used to service and should not be used for any purpose when servicing.  When working on the Arise platform, Hard-Wired Telephone Service to the Router/Modem Device or Wall Outlet is required.  For detailed information regarding phone and internet service provider requirements, please review the System and Equipment Policy detailed on the downloadable PDF and the Opportunity Announcement for the specific client.
